Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 June 2026
This policy explains how Cuts Avenue handles your personal information across our five Sydney salons and our website at cutsavenuesalon.com.au. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). It covers our customers, website visitors, and job applicants. (Information about our employees and contractors is handled separately and isn't covered here.)
Who we are
"Cuts Avenue" (we, us, our) is a group of related businesses that operate our five Sydney salons. They share a common customer record (see "Sharing across our salons" below) and comprise:
- Cuts Avenue Warringah Pty Ltd — ABN 36 677 759 894
- Cuts Avenue Eastgardens Pty Ltd — ABN 12 680 499 941
- Chatswood Chase Pty Ltd — ABN 33 677 763 861
- John Butler, trading as Cuts Avenue Salon — ABN 83 306 431 870
You can reach any of them about your privacy at support@cutsavenuesalon.com.au.
What we collect, and why
We keep what we collect deliberately minimal:
- Bookings & waitlist — your name and mobile number, the salon, service and time you choose, and any notes you add. When you book online we send a one-time code by SMS to verify your number. You can also join a salon's waitlist online or at an in-salon kiosk (name and mobile number).
- Your customer record & visit history — we keep a single record identified by your mobile number (so we recognise you across our salons) holding your name and a history of your visits with us — dates, the salon, services, and the related transaction record. We use this to serve you, and — in aggregate — to understand things like return rates, busy periods, and staffing.
- Client portal account — if you create an account to log in to our client portal, we collect your email address and basic account details. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider.
- Job applications — if you apply through our hiring page, we collect your name, email, phone, your answers to the application questions, and any résumé you upload.
- Website usage — pages viewed, approximate location, device/browser, and how you interact with the site, via cookies and similar technologies (see below).
- In-salon CCTV — our salons use cloud-connected security cameras for safety, security, and loss prevention.
Payments are taken at the counter through our payment terminals — we don't collect or store your card details. We don't ask for your date of birth, home address, or other identifiers we don't need.
How we use your information
- To take, confirm, and manage your bookings and waitlist place.
- To contact you about your visit (including by SMS), and to reply to job applications.
- To run your client portal account, if you have one.
- To understand and improve our business — visit and return rates, staffing, service mix, and referrals. This analysis is about patterns across customers, not about making decisions that affect you individually.
- To measure how our website and advertising perform.
- To keep our salons and people safe (CCTV), and to meet our legal and record-keeping obligations.
Cookies, analytics & advertising
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics and advertising. This includes third-party analytics and advertising services that help us understand site usage and measure ad performance — a completed booking request is recorded as a conversion, sent with a one-way hashed (irreversible) version of your phone number to help match it to your ad click; the provider can't reverse the hash to read your number. We also use a product-analytics service that may record sessions with all form inputs and on-screen text masked, so we don't capture what you type, and a third-party maps service for our location maps.
You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings, and opt out of analytics and personalised advertising through your browser and the ad-settings tools these services provide (for example, Google's Analytics opt-out add-on and Ad Settings). Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the site work.
Sharing across our salons
Our five salons are operated by related entities that share a single customer record. That means your details and visit history follow you across all Cuts Avenue locations, rather than being held separately by each salon. We treat this group as one for the purposes of this policy.
Service providers and overseas storage
We don't sell your personal information. Other than a one-way, irreversible hashed version of your phone number that we send to our advertising provider to measure conversions (described below), we don't share your name, email, or phone number with our analytics, advertising, hosting, maps, or image providers. We share information only with the providers who need it to run our business, under arrangements that require them to protect it. We describe them by the role they perform rather than by name.
Providers that handle your contact details:
- Our database and secure file-storage provider — where your customer record, visit history, and any uploaded résumé are kept.
- Our authentication provider — client-portal sign-in (your account email).
- Our SMS provider — receives your mobile number to send verification and booking messages.
- Our email-delivery provider — sends transactional emails, e.g. a job-application notification that includes the applicant's details.
Providers that handle technical and usage data — they don't receive your name or email, and (other than the hashed phone number sent to our advertising provider, below) not your phone number either:
- Our analytics and advertising providers — usage and cookie data; and, when you make a booking, a one-way hashed version of your phone number used to measure ad conversions. The hash is irreversible — the provider can't read your number from it — and we never send your name or readable number.
- Our product-analytics provider — uses a randomised identifier rather than your contact details; session recordings have all inputs and text masked.
- Our website hosting provider — hosts our site and booking system. Information you submit passes through its servers in transit before it's stored in our database; its analytics measure site usage and performance only.
- Our maps provider — receives your device's IP address to load interactive maps.
- Our content-delivery provider — delivers the images on our site (no customer information).
Our security-camera provider stores our salons' CCTV footage, which may be held overseas.
Overseas disclosure (APP 8): several of these providers store or process data outside Australia (mostly in the United States), so your information may be handled overseas. We take reasonable steps to ensure it's handled consistently with the APPs.
How long we keep it
- Customer records & visit history — we keep these long-term so our business analytics (return rates, financial reporting) stay accurate. After a long period with no contact (around seven years), we de-identify the personal details (name and number) so the historical data can no longer be tied to you, while the de-identified trends remain. We'll also delete your details sooner on request (see below).
- CCTV footage — automatically deleted after about 10 days, unless it's needed for a specific safety or security incident.
- Job applications — kept for around 12 months and then deleted, unless you join the team.
- Waitlist entries — your live place in a queue is cleared after the day; the underlying visit is recorded in your customer record as above.
Keeping it secure
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access — including access controls and reputable providers — and we only collect the minimum we need.
Children
We welcome children in our salons, but bookings and contact details are made and provided by a parent or guardian. We don't knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we'll remove them.
Accessing, correcting, or deleting your information
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us at support@cutsavenuesalon.com.au. We'll respond within a reasonable time. Some information may be retained where we're required or permitted by law to keep it.
Complaints
If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first at support@cutsavenuesalon.com.au and we'll work to resolve it. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
